This album is an alchemical journey thru what's known as Divine Madness and delving deep into the waters of the hidden dimensions where mystics and shaman knowingly swim as part of being initiated as healers and messengers of the divine.

Manifestations of a Broken Machine is a phrase taken from Western Medicine when psychologist diagnosis mental states, or symptoms as being that of mental illness, which equates the human as a malfunctioning machine.

In the shamanic view, these states, or signs of mental illness are seen as “the birth of a healer”, and are the initiatory, or signs of a future shaman.

As explained by Mircea Eliade as Divine Madness. “ The future shaman sometimes takes the risk of being mistaken for a "madman"...but his "madness" fulfils a mystic function; it reveals certain aspects of reality to him that are inaccessible to other mortals, and it is only after having experienced and entered into these hidden dimensions of reality that the "madman" becomes a shaman."

This divine madness is a part of Shamanism, The Shaman is in control of the mystic state, rather than the psychotic state being in control of him. A Shaman knowingly enters into trance states, with rituals such as with music, chanting, or dancing then leaves these realms when they want to. The psychotic lacks this knowledge.

Written, produced, composed, and recorded by Phillip Empey: drones (analog and digital synths), percussion (bells, chimes, udu, cymbals, thunder sheet, frame drum, shakers, hang and tank drums); stringed instruments (dulcimer, santoor, lapsteel); flutes (fujara and hulusi) and drum machine.
